Yesterday I was talking with someone and they told me that I should only go to a church that preached "truth". Truth meaning that only a church that Baptized while having a minister speak the name of Jesus over and taught that speaking in tongues was a requirement for salvation. Many of my friends and family believe that a person must repent, be baptized (only in the name of Jesus), and speak in tongues before they can be saved.
While I do agree with being baptized and speaking in tongues in a christian life, I guess I just prefer that our focus be on the gospel and the saving message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We must be careful not to add to the gospel with our own personal experiences. We must consistently go to the word of God for our answers and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us in all areas of our life.
So I happened to find some scriptures that focus on salvation and I thought I would post them.
  • John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and
shall go in and out, and find pasture.
  • Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
  • Acts 15:11But we believe that through the grace of the LORD Jesus
Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
  • Acts 2:21And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
  • Acts 16:31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
  • Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and
shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt
be saved. Romans 10:10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
  • Romans 6:23For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • John 3:14-1614 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
  • John 5:24Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
  • John 6:40And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
  • John 6:47Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

    Christ Jesus.
  • Mark 1:14-1514 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came
into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 and saying, The
time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the
    gospel.
  • Mark 6:12And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
  • Luke 13:5I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
  • Luke 15:7I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
  • Luke 15:10Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

  • Romans 4 (Whole Chapter)
  • Romans 4:16Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the
end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the
law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us
    all,
  • Romans 9:11(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any
good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of
works, but of him that calleth;)
  • Romans 9:32Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone;
  • Galatians 2:16Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no
    flesh be justified.
  • Galatians 3:10For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in
the book of the law to do them.
  • Ephesians 2 (Whole Chapter) 4 But God, who is
rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were
dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the
gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.13 But now in Christ
Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 14 For
he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of
partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law
of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new
man, so making peace; 16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body
by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: 17 And came and preached peace to
you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. 18 For through him we both
have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
  • 2 Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began
  • Titus 2:11For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
  • Titus 3:5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy
he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost
  • Titus 3:7That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
  • Ephesians 1:7In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness

  • Romans 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin
abounded, grace did much more abound:Romans 5:21That as sin hath reigned unto
death, even so might grace reign through righteousnessunto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • Romans 11:6And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is

    is no more work.
  • Galatians 1:6I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that
called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:2:18 For if I build
again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. 19 For I
through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. 20 I am
crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life
which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved
me, and gave himself for me. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if
righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.3:2 This only would I
learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing
of faith? 11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is
evident: for, The just shall live by faith. 23 But before faith came, we were
kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might
be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a
schoolmaster. 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he
